The furore over Virginia Democrat Governor Ralph Northam has demonstrated that a 30-year-old fancy dress costumed photo is more politically fatal than support of infanticide.

For those unaware of the real story, the Governor in pushing ‘‘pro choice’’ in Virginia ended up faced with a real life situation. A baby survived an abortion procedure and then it became an issue of what to do with its life.

Northam opined the child be taken off life support.

The Democrats didn’t demur over that, but when, likely as a result of that opinion, an old school photo emerged showing him dressed as a black minstrel in company of a KKK costumed colleague, Northam was toast.

Every Democrat and their dog, hung on their own racist-calling petard is demanding his resignation or removal.

In keeping with the moral benchmark of the times, that the sensibilities of adults far outweigh any consideration of the lives of babies, let’s get with it on an effective practical basis.

It is time to declare that saying someone is ‘‘toast’’ is racist hate speech.
