The Rotary Presidents’ Charity Cycle Challenge

-

David Goble, Ron Taylor and Hospice Southland CEO Andrew Leys (far right) are all set for the Rotary Presidents’ Charity Cycle Challenge.

Across the year, we are always planning and running fundraising events both large and small across our community.

This is how the Rotary Presidents are making a difference!

The Rotary Presidents’ Charity Cycle Challenge is a 160km cycle event from Te Anau to Invercargill, including a shorter ride of 100km starting from Mossburn, and will take place on Saturday 23 February, 2019.

Organiser and rider Ron Taylor, is a past president of the Rotary Club of Invercargill South,

‘‘We have had a great response with more than 40 riders already registered, most of them starting from Te Anau, so the support has been overwhelming.’’ - Organiser and rider, Ron Taylor.

and this will be the second time this fundraising event has been held.

As the name of the event suggests, there is a focus on the 10 Rotary clubs in Southland.

It is not a race but is a fun endurance ride so encourages members of those clubs, plus

their families, friends and others, to ride their bikes and gain sponsorship for the charity.

This year’s recipient is Hospice Southland with all money raised going directly to that wonderful community organisation.

‘‘We have had a great response

with more than 40 riders already registered, most of them starting from Te Anau, so the support has been overwhelming,’’ Mr Taylor said.

‘‘The sponsorship from the public for the riders has also been fantastic, and there is still time for others to offer their support

to ensure that the whole event will be a wonderful success’’ he said.

Always one of the first to put his hand up to promote, help and get involved with our fundraising events, our esteemed CEO, Andrew Leys will be flying the 160km flag for Hospice on the day!
