Plans for historical area

-

A full archaeological report on the Southland District Council’s Waikaia forest has been completed and found that the Scrubby gold workings and water races at the southern end of the forest reveal minings work done from the 1870s to the 1900s. The report says, the features discovered should be preserved and perhaps a community partnership entered into to raise recreation and heritage awareness.
