Private school eyed for Gore
A new private school for up to 80 pupils has been proposed for Gore.
The Simmons Goodwill Trust has applied to the Gore District Council for a resource consent to build a private school on rural land at Charlton Rd.
Trustee Greg Simmons, of Invercargill, has not returned calls for comment.

However, a concerned Gore resident contacted
Stuff about the proposal this week concerned with how town’s water infrastructure would cope with the size of the school. ‘‘Surely with the continuing problem with our wastewater and sewerage ponds will the ratepayers end up paying?’’
Council regulatory and planning general manager Dr Ian Davidson-Watts said the council had gone back to the applicant requesting more information about stormwater and wastewater disposal.
