If you’re at a bit of a loose end and you live in the Eastern Southland area or are looking at passing through, it might be an idea to slot a few of the following events into your calendar.

EASTERN SOUTHLAND GOLF TOURNAMENT

Friday, March 19, Noon to 6pm at the Gore Golf Club, 32 Terry Road, Gore

Match: Ambrose (maximum 4 player per team). Tickets: From $50 per team

Bring along a team from work or entertain clients.

Social and experience­d golfers welcome.

A social function and prize giving will be held at the club house at the conclusion of the tournament.

Watering Hole 11th Tee – Food & Beverages available (All proceeds donated to Gore Health).

EXPERIENCE MANDEVILLE – STEAM TRAIN DAY

Saturday, March 20 from 10am to 3pm at Waimea Plains Railway, Mandeville and Rogers K92 Locomotive, 1554 Waimea Highway, Mandeville

Waimea Plains Railway is a developing Heritage Railway. An 1878 Rogers K92 Locomotive will be operating on a section of track with each journey comprising of backwards and forwards running. K92 will be running approx every 15/20mins (apart from when the Volunteers enjoy a short lunch break).

Adult Day Rail Pass is $5, Child Day Rail Pass is $2.50, Single Journey Engine Cab Ride $25.

Tickets are all to be purchased from Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre, Mandeville.

Tiger Moth Flights may also be available - ask at the Heritage Centre for more informatio­n. These flights are weather dependent.

Miss Cocoa Cafe will be open along with Money for Wine Gifts.

UPCYCLING WORKSHOP GORE KIDS HUB FUNDRAISER

Wednesday, March 24, 6pm to 8pm at 3 Irwell St, Gore.

$15 per person

Learn to transform small, old household pieces into something new and take your project home with you!

The Upcycling Workshop is held at GB Gore with Dulux‘s John Brownlee.

Ticket includes all supplies and materials along with a compliment­ary drink and nibbles.

All ticket proceeds are going to the Gore Kids Hub.

MLT SUPER 6 HOUR CHALLENGE

Saturday, April 10, 11am at Roy’s Property, Lochindorb Runs road, Southland, signposted from State Highway 1, Clinton.

Sign In: 8am – 9am and Briefing: 9.30am. No practice. Challenge starts at 10am SHARP.

Entry Fee: $60 per rider for ONE class only

This Gore & Districts Motorcycle Club event is supported by the Mataura Licensing Trust and a host of other generous sponsors.

This year the course has changed to a new venue at Owaka Valley.
