- Lucy Xia

There is one case of Covid-19 in managed isolation, the Ministry of Health announced yesterday.

The person travelled from the United Kingdom via Qatar and tested positive on day 6. They are currently in managed isolation in Auckland.

There are no new community cases. The ministry’s update came a day after the announcement that two-way quarantine-free travel with the Cook Islands will commence on May 17, and two days after the announcement that flights will resume between Western Australia and New Zealand.

On Monday, there were four new cases of Covid-19, all in managed isolation.

Meanwhile, 29 people in New Zealand considered casual plus contacts in relation to the Brisbane Airport green zone breach were yesterday due for their day five test.

These results will be available in the coming days. The ministry said the risk from this event continues to be assessed as low.

■ A sick local staff member working in the New Zealand High Commission in India posted a plea for oxygen on Twitter.

The staff-member was one of several locally-engaged staff who have contracted Covid-19 within the compound.

The request – made not to the Government but to the youth leader of an Opposition Party – was successful, but has been deleted by the Commission, which has apologised for the serious breach of diplomatic protocol.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told RNZ ‘‘about seven’’ staff at the High Commission have had Covid-19 recently.
