Donetsk was under a curfew imposed by pro-Russian gunmen last night as rebels and civilians alike waited nervously for a government assault that could come at any moment. The separatist administra­tion of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic has declared martial law. One of its leaders claimed that two people had already been executed for looting.
