Brazen pickpocket
A pickpocket has been caught on camera stealing wallets and phones from elderly men. A witness saw the man reach into the pocket of an elderly man’s pants and pull out a cellphone at Auckland’s New Lynn Library on July 1. The witness quickly took a photo. Less than an hour later, the same man went into the Henderson TAB where another elderly man was sitting watching TV. Soon after, the victim noticed his wallet was missing from his pocket and staff reviewed security footage. It showed a man, in a blue singlet, taking the wallet. Waitemata police advised the pickpocket to get in touch with them as soon as possible and praised the quick thinking of the library witness.
