Farm worker sentenced after crash
A Geraldine dairy farmer who crashed his partner’s car and later refused to give a blood sample to police has been sentenced to community detention and community work.
Lance James Hakaraia appeared on charges of careless driving and refusing to provide a blood sample to police.
He was sentenced to six months of community detention, 100 hours of community work, and was disqualified from driving for 13 months.
He was given an additional 100 hours of community work in place of his outstanding fines, which were remitted.
Other matters heard on Wednesday included:
Aiden Timothy Ward was convicted on charges of possession of cannabis, possession of drug utensils, and failing to appear in court.
He also appeared for sentencing on two charges of possessing a psychoactive substance for supply.
He was sentenced months in prison.
Jack James Gibson, 20, was sentenced to 80 hours of community work on one charge of to two assaulting a female.
Joseph Michael Hadfield, 27, of Timaru was sentenced to 120 hours of community work for driving while disqualified.
Tamati Hone McCallum appeared on one charge of assault.
He was sentenced months of supervision.
Raewyn Rangimarie Wai Wai, of Timaru, appeared on two charges of theft, one charge of driving while disqualified, and one charge of careless use of a motor vehicle causing injury.
She also pleaded guilty to a new charge of wilful trespass.
She was sentenced to three months of community detention, nine months’ supervision, and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
She was given an additional one month of community detention in place of her outstanding fines, which were remitted.
Jadin Pepene HadfieldLeonard, of Milford, was sentenced to 12 months of intensive supervision on charges of wilfully interfering with a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, and driving without a licence.
He was also disqualified from driving for six months. to nine
