Carney faces ban

-

Former NRL winger Justin Carney is facing a ban of up to three matches after being charged with making contact with a referee during Salford’s Super League win over Huddersfield. The 28-year-old former Canberra and Sydney Roosters player has been charged by the Rugby Football League’s match review panel with making either deliberate or reckless physical contact with referee James Child in the 36th minute of his side’s 30-20 victory last Friday. Carney, who left the Roosters in 2012 to link with Castleford before joining Salford last year, does not have the option of an early-guilty plea and so will face a hearing today. He is facing a grade C charge which carries a suspension of two to three matches.
