Finding the perfect dress

Most brides will say that one of the first things they considered when they became engaged was ’The Dress’.

-

More time and thought is put into choosing the wedding dress than any other aspect of wedding planning.

There are countless web sites and huge numbers of specialist bridal magazines which can help you to sort through the styles and begin to decide which ones will suit you best.

When embarking on ’the search’ remember this is not the time to go with a fad which is likely to be short-lived - you will have photographs of this particular dress that people will be seeing for years to come so timelessness is a vital key.

A first step in your selection is to note the style and colour aspects you will not need to consider:

If you do not look good in a ’mermaid’ style dress today, you will not look any better in one on your wedding day - don’t fall in love with a style, choose a style to suit you.

If white is just not your colour (not everyone looks wonderful in white) do not be afraid to choose the amazing tinted dresses that are available today - when the white is toned down with a soft whisper of another colour it can enhance your beauty without washing you out.

Or opt for the bolder jewel colours which are emerging as fashionable favourites.

Visit a bridal store before you make your mind up on a style.

Take a friend with you who will give you honest but gentle feedback.

Make sure you have a lot of

Ntime and then try everything on!

It is amazing how the dress you just did not think of is often the one that looks best on you.

Every time you find a dress that might possibly be ’the one’, ask your friend to take a photograph of it. Keep going until you have exhausted the supply of dresses - and no doubt, the salesperson - then take a deep breath and walk out.

This is the hard part because you will be very tempted to purchase the dress that day - experts advise - don’t do it!

This is one of the most important purchases you will ever make and should not be a spur of the moment one.

Now that you know the basic style that suits you, you can search the net, the bridal magazines and wedding shows comparing prices, fabrics and subtle design changes that may look even better.
