Creative Jam: 7.30pm at Aidan Theatre, 28 Latter St, Timaru. Take place on the first Friday of each month. These evenings provide opportunit­ies for new work, testing material, building relationsh­ips and collaborat­ors, supporting new performers! From bands, singers, poets, instrument­alists, dancers, comedians, etc if it’s performing arts then this is the place to be. Saturday Timaru Farmers Market: 9am-12.30pm at Community House car park on Strathalla­n St. Fresh seasonal produce.

Rugby: South Canterbury Senior and Senior B draw. Mackenzie v. Pleasant Point 2.45pm at Fairlie, Old Boys v. Waimate at 2.45pm, and Celtic v. Temuka at 3pm,, both at Alpine Energy Stadium, and Harlequins v. Geraldine 2.45pm at Ashbury Park.

Justice of the Peace: 10am12pm at the Timaru Library. Justices of the Peace can witness and certify documents. No charge.

Waitaki Ploughing Match: 10.30am at Ruddenklau’s property, Waihao Back Rd, Waimate. Golf Lubricants Silver Plough Convention­al and Farmlands Fuel Reversible Qualifying event, NZ Vintage qualifying event. Come and see our local ploughmen competing in the Vintage Section, Single Furrow, Two Furrows and Three Furrows.

Band: 7pm at the SC RSA. Hear Art of Cheese perform. All are welcome to attend.

Band: 7pm at The Sail, hear CBay Band perform. Saturday - Sunday Purely Pastel: Pastel Artists of New Zealand has a National Pastel Exhibition and Convention every year. This is the pinnacle event in our calendar and members are encouraged to enter their best work for selection. Works will be on display at the Aigantighe Art Gallery. All of these are loop tracks, starting and ending at the Waimate A&P Show grounds. We also have 1.5km run or bike courses for younger children.
