Motivates Parker

-

Barry and Parker were amazed by Fury’s ability to shake off his deep issues and come back with such style and polish.

‘‘How anyone can do that to themselves . . . 150lb of weight, the drug problems, the mental health problems and then come back . . . even though he was on the canvas twice, he finished the fight the fresher man. Unbelievable,’’ Barry marvelled.

‘‘You have to give him huge props and you’d have to think if these guys fight a rematch that Fury would have to beat him easy the second time.

‘‘I thought he was very unlucky not to get the decision.’’

Barry was disappointed with Wilder’s execution.

‘‘Wilder’s reputation speaks for himself but he just couldn’t time them [his big punches], he couldn’t time them with the power shot and we all saw the frustration as he missed round after round after round trying to hit him with his big right hand.

‘‘He was trying too hard to knock Fury out in those early rounds and he was throwing punches with 100 per cent power. Then he was losing his stamina and speed in the middle rounds and missing by miles. The double jab is what he had to use.’’

Barry and Parker return to New Zealand today for the final buildup to the Christchurch fight.

‘‘Fury put in a great performance coming off the two years he had of not training.’’ Joseph Parker

Duncan Johnstone flew to the United States with the assistance of Parker v Flores fight sponsor Flooring Xtra.
