Gatland’s taunt:

-

Record-breaking coach Warren Gatland has had a dig at Eddie Jones’ England after Wales’ top-of -the-table Six Nations win.

The 21-13 win over England in Cardiff yesterday was a record 12th consecutive test win for Wales, who remain on course for the grand slam.

But the Kiwi – who celebrated a first win over coaching rival Jones – could not resist a mild jibe as he claimed he had been confident of vanquishing Wales’ fierecest rival.

‘‘England were outstanding in their first two games,’’ Gatland said at the post-match press conference.

‘‘I look back on England in the last few years. When it’s really mattered, I’ve questioned whether they can win these big games. We’ve had a record of being pretty good in them.’’

Gatland, who has been in charge of Wales since 2007, revealed the Welsh team had said before leaving their hotel ‘‘that we would win today because we’ve forgotten how to lose. They deserve to celebrate, it’s some performance.’’

Gatland is now within touching distance of a third Six Nations grand slam after earlier triumphs in 2008 and 2012.

‘‘I knew how important this game would be,’’ Gatland said. ‘‘My experience with Wales in the past is that we always get stronger as tournaments go.

‘‘When it really matters, we’ve fronted up in the past and tended to perform.’’

Gatland also played down any talk of Wales becoming a World Cup title contender.

‘‘Everyone was writing us off before so we’re just happy to come under the radar.

‘‘We’re not talking ourselves
