Revisiting family homes

-

Hi folks, I trust you have had a good week. Mine has been superb, in fact you could say amazingly superb.

Amazing is a great word. Last week I used it several times changing ‘‘have a nice day’’ into ‘‘have an amazing day’’. Except for one person who looked utterly confused and didn’t know how to reply, the others went on their way with beaming smiles – hopefully expecting amazing things to happen that day.

Yes, my visit south was amazing although I am not sure if the reason is due to forgetting or remembering which is a tad concerning. These two things are starting to rule my life.

I forgot my cell phone and it would have been most useful. On the other hand no-one could contact me easily so I had the freedom to do my own thing. Do you know my motel unit didn’t have a landline? Ah yes, a sure sign of today’s methods of communication.

The family birthday went well. We enjoyed each other’s company, reminisced and had fun.

Then I went further south revisiting my childhood home. It is over 40 years since my Dad sold it to a man who still owns the property today.

Everyone says you should never go back and revisit places where you once lived. I know that, but over the years I have viewed the place from time to time. Sure it has changed but I was prepared for that.

Altogether, last week, I went back to a second-childhood place three times. All experiences were utterly amazing.

I am beginning to wonder if a permanent state of secondchildhood could be the solution to my problem of forgetting and remembering in the here and now.
