Robert Ireland Exhibition: At the York St Gallery, Timaru, until October 31.

The Three Rs: Exhibition at the South Canterbury Museum on Perth St. The history of education in South Canterbury. Runs until November 24.

Waimate Art Society: Annual exhibition at Waimate Art Society Rooms on the corner of Shearman St and High St. Entry $2. Ends Monday.

Livewire: 8.30pm at the Sail & Anchor Bar & Cafe on Sophia St, Timaru. The band Livewire, featuring Timaru’s Abigail Austin, will play.

TOMORROW

Stamp fair: 10am-2pm at the Red Cross Hall on Bank St, Timaru. The Philatelic Society’s biennial fair for buying and selling stamps. Fundraiser for the Basilica restoratio­n.

Halloween Trick or Treat: Noon-4pm at Caroline Bay, Timaru. A family fun day with carnival rides, bumper boats, spot prizes, and more. Net proceeds benefit Plunket. Tickets are $20 for a family or $6 per person and available through www.eventbrite.co.nz

Halloween gigs: 8pm at the Factory Bar & Nightclub on Stafford St, Timaru. The bands Scizerac, Lebowski, SWARF, Fall of Man, and Descendant of Darwin. Dress-up is the night theme. Free entry until 9pm, when it becomes $5.

Winchester Rodeo: 8.30am at Winchester showground­s.

TOMORROW and SUNDAY

Waimate 50: 9am today, 8am on Sunday through the streets of Waimate. Base admission is $35 on Saturday, $25 on Sunday, and $50 for a weekend pass for adults. Free for under 12s with an adult.
