Long Drop Rally: Gates open at 2pm today at the Duntroon Domain on State Highway 83, 35km inland from Oamaru. Pitch a tent and enjoy a weekend-long motorcycle rally. Entry is $35.

The Dividing Line: Exhibition at the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Wai-iti Rd, Timaru. Nelson and German-based painter Lisa Chandler explores protest movements through her art. Runs until February 9.

Go Geraldine Christmas Parade: 6-8pm on Talbot St, from the corner of Hislop St to Peel St. Lolly scramble and giveaway to follow.

Jailhouse Frocks: 7pm at the South Canterbury Drama League’s Playhouse on Church St, Timaru. A dim-witted police officer is in for a chaotic night when he arrests three wacky women. Buffet-style dinner included. Tickets are $48 for adults and $40 for seniors.

Waimate Christmas Parade: 11am-1pm from St Patricks School on Cameron St to Seddon Square on Queen St. Bouncy castle, face painting, lolly scramble, and more to follow.

Internatio­nal Christmas Dinner: 6pm at Pembroke School Hall on Raglan St, Oamaru. Food from around the world alongside raffles, music, and games. Bring a plate to share.

SUNDAY

Central South Island Charity Bike Ride training ride: 9am opposite the pub at Cave. Register before 8.45am. Take care as roads are open to all vehicles.

The Sound of Christmas: 2pm at St Mary’s Church on Church St, Timaru. Concert with the Alpine Energy Brass Band, followed by a raffle. Fundraiser for Salvation Army. Tickets are $7.50 at the office (open Tuesday to Friday, 9am-1pm) or $10 on the day.

Rhyth-Mix Singers Musical Garden Party: 2.30-4pm at HiltonView on Earl Rd, Geraldine. Enjoy afternoon tea and a garden walk between the two 20-minute performanc­e sets. Fundraiser for South Canterbury Cancer Society. Tickets are $25 and available from the Cancer Society in Timaru, or from Peter Young Apparel or Louk NZ Clothing in Geraldine.

Choir Christmas Concert: 4pm at St Andrews Church on Cox St, Geraldine. The MidCanterb­ury Choir, with special guest Tainui Kuru, present Christmas carols. Entry is $5 plus a gift for the foodbank.
