Balancing good with bad

-

Hey folks, what do you think about this new word, selfisolation? It is putting a safeguard in place which might help curtail the spread and panic Covid-19 is causing – but at what price?

Isolation, by itself can be a nasty word and is responsible for so many situations not helpful to an older person. Isolation is almost like giving authority to loneliness.

In the case of Covid-19 we need to accept isolation may help stop its spread but it is a drastic step. Hopefully it will prove to be the right way to go.

I think the greatest curse of loneliness is living with the thought that no one cares for you. However, self-isolation is ushering in a whole new way of looking at life. The procedures to follow for cleanliness and distance may be likely to linger on.

I am not saying extra cleansing and consideration for others is not good. It is. It is things we should be doing in normal everyday living. However, the addition of selfisolation is stressing a panic situation which could become the norm for other medical outbreaks.

This week has been a sad week for our short street. We had a death, a car write-off, and two people are nervously awaiting medical results.

All this sad news makes it difficult not to let negative feelings control our thoughts. Add to that the virus and problems in the world and it is all a tad overwhelming.

Looking on the bright side. A couple on our street, have just moved into their new home. It is an exciting time for them.

It important to balance the good with the bad. That’s what makes the world go round.
