Gauguin in Aotearoa: Exhibition at the McAtamney Gallery and Design Store on Talbot St, Geraldine. An artistic challenge by German artists Gabriel Heimler and Anna Proc, now living in Wellington, to connect Gauguin’s idyllic vision of the 19th century South Pacific with today’s New Zealand. Runs until March 26.

Sarah Rutherford: Exhibition at the York St Gallery, Timaru. Paintings by Christchur­ch artist Sarah Rutherford on display. Runs until April 10.

Then Again: Exhibition at the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Wai-iti Rd, Timaru. A look into how artist Ross Gray’s work has evolved over about 50 years. Runs until April 26.

Live’ n Loud: Exhibition at the South Canterbury Museum on Perth St, Timaru. Snapshots and remnants from Timaru’s 1980s and 1990s rock scene. Runs until May 24.

Waimate Relay for Life: 10am-10pm at the Waimate A and P Showground­s. Walk, jog, or run to celebrate cancer survivors and carers. Register a team for $15 per member at waimate.relayforli­fe.org.nz

Timaru Bike Polo Open Day: Noon-2.30pm at Caroline Bay. Pick up a bicycle and mallet and give it a go. Safety and other equipment provided.

New Conservati­ve public meeting: 5-7pm at the Community Lounge, Caroline Bay. New Conservati­ve party leader Leighton Baker will lead a discussion on pressing issues such as euthanasia.

Retro Party: 7.30-11.30pm at the Timaru South Cosmopolit­an Club on Browne St. Dance while band Flip Side performs music from the 1950s onwards.

Christchur­ch Mosque Shootings Commemorat­ion:

12-4pm both days at the Aigantighe Art Gallery on Waiiti Rd, Timaru. On display will be video artwork created by Timaru photograph­er Brian High in the aftermath of the attack.

My Favourite Things:

6.30-9pm tomorrow, 2-4.30pm on Sunday at Timaru Girls’ High School on Cain St. The Ranger School of Dance groove to popular songs. Tickets are $20 for adults or $10 for children and seniors, and available at the dance school on Douglas St.

Geraldine Multi Challenge: 7.30am at the Orari Racecourse on Orari Racecourse Rd, Orari. Challenges for everybody including a 18km, 32km, and 52km bike, as well as a 5km, 12km, and 21km run or walk. Registrati­on costs between $11 and $56 and can be done at the geraldinem­ultichalle­nge.co.nz website or on the day.

Pareora v Smithfield: Noon1pm netball match at the Southern Trust Events Centre on Morgans Rd, 1.30-4pm rugby match at the Alpine Energy Stadium on Church St. The teams compete for the rugby shield while raising money for St John. Food and bouncy castles included. Entry is by gold coin or free for under 12s.

Temuka Courthouse Museum Open Day: 2-4pm at the museum on Domain Ave. View displays detailing Temuka and the districts farming, family, and social history. Runs every Sunday until June.
