Grey is the new black to give style to rooms

It is often considered to be drab and gloomy, but the reality is, grey is one of the most versatile colours in home decor.
Itisa foundation colour that can easily be paired with other colours and can be used for ‘‘foundation’’ pieces such as large upholstery items, including sofas, beds and chairs. You can use grey to help ‘‘ground a space’’ as well as an accent colour.

■ Use light grey in spaces that don’t get much light. Light grey can help to make a space feel light and bright.

■ Mix warm and cool greys. Warm greys are more cream in nature while cool greys are more blue.

■ Be afraid to use a dark shade of grey such as charcoal grey. Smoky shades of grey can be luxurious.
■ Be afraid to mix different shades of grey in the same space.
■ Be afraid to use grey as accents. From artwork to pillows, grey can be a soothing addition to your space.
■ Use dark shades of grey in spaces that don’t get much light as it will likely make the space feel overly dark.
