■ An indoor cannabis-growing operation was shut down by police in Timaru on Tuesday. The 10 cannabis plants and 10 seedlings were seized at an address. The growers were given a warning and the plants were destroyed, a police spokesperson said.

■ A 33-year-old Timaru man was stopped for drink-driving in the McDonald’s drive-through on Tuesday afternoon. He blew 792mcgs into a breathalyser and his licence was suspended for 28 days and he was also charged with driving while forbidden.
