White Ribbon event

A free White Ribbon barbecue will be held outside Mitre 10 Mega tomorrow between 10am and 2pm as part of the campaign to prevent violence against women. MP for Rangitata Jo Luxton will be there to support the cause from 12pm to 12.30pm. In New Zealand, on average 14 women a year are killed by their partners or ex-partners, according to the White Ribbon website. The White Ribbon campaign celebrates the many men who are non-violent and committed to promoting safe and healthy relationships within families and challenge any behaviours that are abusive.
