Monday April 24 ARTS
Messages Home, 8pm: Documentary in which a collection of short video messages from British soldiers to their loved ones recorded in Burma during World War II are shown to veterans and their families.

The Auckland Dawn Service, 5.50am: Tainui Stephens and Oriini Kaipara outline the day’s programming before crossing live to Auckland War Memorial Museum for the Dawn Parade and Service. Beyond The Battalion, 6.45am and
repeated at 7pm: Funded by NZ On Air, this documentary looks at a little-known documentary film about a 1977 pilgrimage to World War II battlefields. Our Bloodiest Day, 8.05am: Documentary about the loss of New Zealand lives at the Battle of Passchendaele in 1917. The Ghosts We Brought Home, 10am: Documentary about three Vietnam War veterans and how their experiences affected them and their whanau.
Anzac Cove Service, 2.30pm: Live coverage of the Gallipoli Dawn Service from Anzac Cove, Turkey. Hitler And The Gum Diggers, 4.35pm: Documentary about those in the 28th Maori Battalion’s A Company, known as ‘Gum Diggers’. Anzac Highlights, 6pm: Highlights of the Dawn Service from the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

Children Of Gallipoli, 9am: Documentary in which two young New Zealanders whose relatives fought at Gallipoli visit Turkey to meet two young Turks whose family members were also at Gallipoli. Anzac Day 2017 – National Commemorative Service, 11am: Live coverage of the National Commemorative Service from the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park in Wellington.

25 April, 8.30pm: Billed as “an animated documentary”, this New Zealand-made film, called 25 April, is about the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign in which thousands of lives were lost.

Deadline Gallipoli, 8.30pm: This Australian drama looks at Gallipoli through the eyes of a group of war correspondents.
