He’s a jolly Roger
At the age of 35, Roger Federer is eyeing up yet another Wimbledon men’s singles title. And on his form this year, the Swiss star has a royal chance of achieving that goal.
Federer began the year in sensational fashion by winning the Australian Open, beating arch-rival Rafael Nadal in a five-set thriller. This was his 18th grand slam title, putting him clear of Nadal, who is now on 15, and Pete Sampras with 14.
But after winning the Miami Open, Federer took a break from tennis with the aim of being fit for Wimbledon.
With his 36th birthday looming on August 8, Federer is aware he has to look after his body to achieve
all his goals. And one of those is to win an unprecedented eighth Wimbledon men’s singles title, edging ahead of Sampras on seven titles.
