Crimson Peak

Sky Premiere, 8.30pm Starring Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska.

Guillermo del Toro brings his trademark creepy, weird and wacky direction to Crimson Peak but the movie is let down by poor pacing and a plot so thin it cracked in the first scene. That said, it is still a suspenseful, although at times overly violent, offering. Mia Wasikowska plays the brave and beautiful newly wed Edith to great effect while Tom Hiddleston is a standout as the mysterious baron who carries her off to his crumbling British estate. ★★★
