Only natural:

Nick and Carla have plenty in common and have fallen in love so they should be destined for a long-term, happy relationship on Coronation Street. Well, shouldn’t they?

Why Coro’s Nick and Carla are meant to be together.

Coronation Street’s Nick Tilsley and Carla Connor are meant to be together – at least that’s the view of actor Ben Price, who plays Nick. “I just think they’re a natural fit,” says Ben. “(They’re) two business people, two people who’ve done quite well, two people who are a bit lonely and a bit broken.” Ben says he wanted a Nick and Carla relationship to happen “a while back, not that I have any say” but his wish has finally been granted. And it seems that Coro Street fans like the couple too. “People I’ve spoken to tell me they love it,” laughs Ben. “They like the way the characters work together and I’ve heard ‘Narla’ go down very well on Twitter.” Ben says Nick’s feelings towards Carla are totally genuine. “Nick’s really happy, he really loves her,” says Ben. “He recognises she’s sort of a china doll – a bit broken, a bit damaged ... “The difference to his relationship with Leanne is that Carla has that edge and he loves Carla’s edge ... He loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her.” He acknowledges that Carla has a drinking and gambling problem but does not see this as a big issue. “Compared to what he’s been through with his own family (the Platts) it’s nothing,” laughs Ben. However, although Carla is in love with Nick and wants to be his wife, events in her family life are winding up out of her control and are sending her into a downward spiral. Consequently, Carla is set to do things that may threaten her future with Nick. Alison King, who plays Carla, says happiness never seems to last long for her character. “Carla is probably in the best place she has been for a long time,” says Alison. “Her business is doing well, she is in love, she knows she was not responsible for the fire and all is going well. So it is only a matter of time before something happens to put an end to all that happiness ... “She is engaged to the best man in the world and she is terrified of losing him.”
