Freeview’s new platform

Freeview is launching a new high-end recorder and a new Freeview OnDemand platform combining Live TV and OnDemand services on Smart TVs and set-top boxes.

Expected to be in store early next year, the recorder will be the first device to combine Freeview Live TV, Freeview OnDemand and Freeview Record capabilities in one unit, compatible with both a UHF aerial and satellite dish.

The new Freeview recorder will not only give viewers OnDemand content from M ori Television, TVNZ OnDemand and ThreeNow, it will also enable access to a range of local and international third-party video OnDemand (VOD) apps.

New recorder features include Live TV, OnDemand and record options, the ability to record two or more channels at the same time, and being able to pause and rewind Live TV.
