Uncomfortable tale in which a woman tracks down a man who sexually abused her when she was young. Mara and Mendelsohn are tremendous with a twisted chemistry which drives the story to a vaguely disappointing conclusion. It is based on the play Blackbird by David Harrower and is probably best suited to the theatre rather than the screen ... probably because director Benedict Andrews doesn’t quite have the knack for the pacing that the story deserves.
