American Idol ended with great fanfare in 2015 but after the briefest of interments, the reality singing contest has been resurrected for 2018. Human cake-topper Ryan Seacrest returns to host and singer Katy Perry takes over judging duties alongside two men with first names for surnames – Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Katy made headlines in the opening episodes after she kissed a contestant, who didn’t like it.
