Death and engagement:

-

What’s next in the dramatic days of NCIS: LA.

What challenges do the team face at the start of season nine?

Daniela Ruah: Hetty is not there and Sam is having trouble coming back. Hetty is replaced by Executive Assistant Director Mosely, played by Nia Long, so we’re missing members, we have new members and the whole dynamic is messed with. Mosely doesn’t like the way we do things because obviously whoever watches the show knows that our team was very unconventional in that way but get the job done. So she kind of messes with that and separates the team, which is rough on us and the audience.

How is Sam coping with the death of his wife, Michelle?

Sam is trying to escape everything

that reminds him of his late wife. He is living on his own, with his children somewhere else right now and I don’t think he has a good grasp on life without her yet. He also doesn’t want to be part of the team for now but Callen (Chris O’Donnell) is a good partner and his best friend and won’t let him do that. So they all do everything they can to reel him back in.

How does Mosely shake things up?

She is screwing around with the formula for sure and she even screws around with the geography of the set. She does not want to take over Hetty’s office so she has a whole modern glass office built right above Hetty’s so she’s trying to mark her territory for sure – and the fact it is all glass means she can see everything going on which isn’t good for the team.

What is the next step for Kensi and Deeks?

Kensi and Deeks are engaged but what is the next step when it comes to family? Do they want kids? Should they have kids? Will they both remain agents if they do have a family? Neither of them knows if they’re going to come home after each day of work so there is a lot to talk about moving forward. This is all Kensi has done her entire life and all she aspired to be. Deeks used to be a lawyer so maybe he’s the one that leaves. Neither feel it is fair to ask the other to stop doing the job they love so they’re in a pickle.

How does it feel to reach 200 episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles in season nine?

It’s incredible. You get cast for a pilot and the chances of it being picked up are minimal. Then you are up to 24 episodes and crossing your fingers for a second season.

And all of a sudden, we hit 200 episodes. I turned 25 during the first season. I met my husband on the show. I had two children while on the show. I bought my first house, sold that, bought my second house – so life happens in 200 episodes. So much happened for us not just as characters but in real life. Chris O’Donnell’s kids are growing up and the oldest is 18 now and LL’s (Cool J) kids are in college and one just got married. We are definitely a family now and we hope we are still together for another 200 episodes if we’re lucky.
