Sunday night’s great viewing

-

What a great line-up of programmes on TVNZ 1 on Sunday, July 29. It started with Country Calendar’s story of a family with a long tradition of hop growing. It showed the owners’ amazing work ethic and the effect it had on their loyal workers. The photography was also amazing. After Sunday, it was Cold Case, the story of Mona Blades’ unsolved murder. Wow, that was an eye-opener. So many stones left unturned. Q&A, with Corin Dann – not a programme I have ever watched before – grabbed my attention. Which led me to read ‘A Question Of Politics’ – written by Sarah Nealon on page 10 of TV Guide (July 28-August 3) – through fresh eyes. What a thoroughly professional and nice guy Corin Dann is. I will be an avid viewer from now on. The next programme – The Inside Word – had me in two minds but I’m really pleased I did keep watching. I admired Hayley and the journalist for sharing their very personal stories on how alcohol affected their lives. It was great to see that they both have come out the other side and I’m sure it will have other viewers pondering their drinking habits. Best Sunday night viewing in a long time. PS. I loved your quiz, too, even if I didn’t score very well.

I’m a huge fan of Q&A and never miss an episode. I’ve always enjoyed getting up on a Sunday morning and watching it with my breakfast. I was disappointed at the move to Sunday nights but thought I would give it a go. But, for me, watching politics before bed is not a good mix with a relaxing night’s sleep, so I won’t be following it from now on.
