Good to be home

-

France is the host nation for this year’s Ryder Cup golf event which, on past results, is good news for the European team.

Although the United States is the defending champion in the biennial competition, it has lost the past five Ryder Cups when held in Europe. The Americans’ last success on European soil was a quarter of a century ago, when it edged out Europe 15-13 at Warwickshire, England in 1993.

Since then the United States has won just twice – in 1999 at Massachusetts and in 2016 at Minnesota. Europe has triumphed eight times over the same period.

This year’s event is being held at Le Golf National in Paris across three days. The first two days include four-ball and foursomes and the final day features 12 singles matches.
