When Papamoa couple Sindy, 35, and Roger, 42, met through work three years ago, Sindy, who was born in South Africa, wowed Roger during their courtship with her great flavours and use of herbs and spices. Cooking is now their shared passion and they are keen to showcase their Afro-Kiwi cuisine, blending their heritages through food.
For p tiki cousins Pat, 31, and Wilz, 29, love and laughter are at the core of everything they do together. Showcasing an innovative take on traditional M ori cuisine true to the East Coast and delivered at restaurant quality, the guys are all about cooking what is in season.
Married couple Jacqui, 31, and Nic, 43, met nine years ago at a dental conference and now can’t wait to get their teeth into the competition. The Aucklanders love to dine at flash restaurants and travel to luxurious destinations, which inspires their culinary creations in the kitchen.
Foodie friends from Dunedin, Jess, 32, and Cindy, 36, are on the show to win. Not only are they both married to dairy farmers, their children attend the same school and real estate licencee Jess and mortgage and insurance broker Cindy spend every weekend together, either at the rugby club, a dinner party or a school event.
Cooking is in the blood of Auckland cousins May, 24, and Enna, 29. The pair learnt many of their skills working alongside their families in takeaway shops, but they won’t be serving up your typical fast-food fare. After years of experimentation they have come up with their own Kiwi Asian fusion dishes.
Father and daughter hunter-gatherers Liam, 46, and Eden, 21, come from Taranaki. They love to go fishing and hunting and embrace raw foods while using everything Mother Earth has to offer. Eden learnt her cooking skills from her plumber dad but, these days, she’s the boss in the kitchen.
