The TV Guide

Coro viewers should just be grateful

-

I opened up the latest TV Guide to see yet more letters complaining about Coronation Street. You are all turning into whingers. Be grateful you are getting your favourite soap at all. They stopped my favourite (The Young And The Restless). I would love it to come back from where it left off. I don’t care how far behind it is and I wouldn’t care what time of day or night it would be on if it came back (unlikely). I would watch it. For goodness sake get yourselves a TV recorder, record it and watch it when you like.

Thumbs up to Janet of Christchurch (Mr Telly, November 1) re Coro Street viewing times. I, too, chose to stick with the old episodes and just love my daily fix. I record it so it’s there to watch when I want. TVNZ, how about giving it to us on Saturday and Sunday as well instead of a repeat programme which is usually on at 1pm? Then we would catch up even quicker. Heather (Matamata)

What would be so wrong with screening Coronation Street earlier in the evening on TVNZ 1 as so many writers to Mr Telly have requested? If the number of Mr Telly letters is reflected in TV ratings, Coro Street would rate its socks off in an earlier time slot. How about it, John Kelly (TVNZ head of programming)? Why not look after those people who still watch regular TV? Coro fan (Auckland)

Did you know that the young actress Amelia Flanagan, 10, who plays April on Emmerdale is the older sister to twins Isabella Flanagan and William Flanagan who play cousins Hope and Joseph on Coronation Street? What bright futures.
