The episode featured a storyline about a genetic blood disorder called sickle cell disease and during the show’s 8pm-9pm UK broadcast, a flood of people registered as new donors at www. blood.co.uk. A Call The Midwife spokesperson says the number of donors was well up on the same hour the previous day.
