Darius Perkins:

Australian actor who played Neighbours’ Scott Robinson before Jason Donovan. He returned to the series in 2013 as Marty Kranic. Died January 2, aged 54.

Bob Einstein:

Emmy Award-winning American writer and comedic actor known for his roles as Marty Funkhouser in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry Middleman on Arrested Developmen­t. Died January 2, aged 76.

Carol Channing:

American actress best known for 5000 performanc­es as the scheming Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly on Broadway. She also had a stellar film career, winning a Golden Globe for Thoroughly Modern Millie. Died January 15, aged 97.

Windsor Davies:

Welsh actor who literally made himself heard as Battery Sergeant Major Williams in the 70s sitcom It Ain’t Half Hot Mum. Among the character’s catchphras­es was “Shut Up!”, delivered as an eardrum-shattering military scream. Davies also starred as antique dealer Oliver Smallbridg­e in Never The Twain. Died January 17, aged 88.

Richard Miller:

American character actor who appeared in more than 100 films including Gremlins and The Terminator. He played bartender Lou Mackie on Fame. Died January 30, aged 90.

Clive Swift:

British actor best known for his role as Richard Bucket, the long-suffering husband of Hyacinth (Patricia Routledge), in Keeping Up Appearance­s. Died February 1, aged 82.

Carmen Duncan:

Australian actress who, after receiving critical acclaim for her role in the 1980 movie Harlequin, moved to the US, where she played Iris Wheeler on the soap opera Another World. Died February 3, aged 76.

Julie Adams:

American actress who played Eve Simpson on Murder, She Wrote. Died February 3, aged 92.

Carmen Argenziano:

American actor who played Jacob Carter/Selmak on Stargate SG-1 and had recurring roles on LA Law, Melrose Place, and The Young And The Restless. Died February 10, aged 75.

Jan Michael Vincent:

American actor best known for playing helicopter pilot Stringfell­ow Hawke on the 80s series Airwolf. Vincent was paid $200,000 an episode, making him

the highest-paid actor on American television at that time. Died February 10, aged 73.

Vincent Vella:

American actor who played Jimmy Petrille on The Sopranos. Died February 20, aged 72.

Beverley Owen:

American actress best known for playing Marilyn on The Munsters. Died February 21, aged 81.

Peter Tork:

American musician and actor who found fame as one of four members of a band created in the mid-60s for the television series The Monkees. Died February 22, aged 77.

Morgan Woodward:

American actor best known for his recurring role as Dallas’ Marvin ‘Punk’ Anderson and Boss in Cool Hand Luke. Died February 22, aged 93.

Katherine Helmond:

Golden Globe-winning American actress most famous as ditzy matriarch Jessica Tate in Soap and feisty Mona Robinson in the 80s sitcom Who’s The Boss?. She also played Doris Sherman on Coach and Lois Whelan, Ray’s mother-in-law, in Everybody Loves Raymond. Died February 23, aged 89.

Patricia Garwood:

English actress who first appeared on film aged nine in The Lavender Hill Mob and is best known for playing Beryl Crabtree in the sitcom No Place Like Home. Died February 24, aged 78.

Paul Blackwell:

Australian actor who appeared in the films The Quiet Room, Red Dog and Storm Boy. His television roles included All Saints, City Homicide and Deadline Gallipoli. Died February 26, aged 64.

Mitzi Hoag:

American actress known for her roles in Bonanza, Here Come The Brides, and The Partridge Family. She also played the mother of Natalie (Mindy Cohn) on The Facts Of Life for nine seasons. Died February 26, aged 86.

Andre Previn:

German-born, quadruple Oscar-winning composer and musician who was once married to actress Mia Farrow. Died February 28, aged 89.

Jed Allan:

Familiar to a generation of children as the Forest Ranger Scott Turner in 60s drama series Lassie, this American actor also played Rush Sanders on Beverly Hills, 90210. Died March 9, aged 84.

Pat Laffan:

Irish actor who played Pat Mustard in the comedy series Father Ted. Died March 14, aged 79.

Shane Rimmer:

Canadian actor who was the voice of Scott Tracy in Thunderbir­ds and also a familiar face on Coronation Street in the late 60s as American GI Joe Donnelli and then again, in 1988, as Malcolm Reid. Died March 29, aged 89.

Anzac Wallace:

Most recently seen playing Mo’s dad Rocky Hannah on Shortland Street in 2016, this New Zealand prisoner-turnedacto­r found fame starring as Te Wheke in the much-acclaimed 1983 film Utu. Wallace, who taught himself to read while in prison, also appeared in The Quiet Earth, The Silent One and Dangerous Orphans. Died April 6, aged 76.

Sandy Ratcliff:

Dubbed as the face of the 70s by Princess Margaret’s photograph­er husband Lord Snowden, this English actress played the role of EastEnders’ Sue Osman. Died April 7, aged 70.

John McEnery:

British actor who appeared in the movies Romeo And Juliet and Nicholas And Alexandra, as well as the television dramas Jamaica Inn and Tess Of The D’Urberville­s. Died April 12, aged 75.

Georgia Engel:

American actress who played Georgette Franklin Baxter in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Pat MacDougall on Everybody Loves Raymond. More recently, she played

Hot In Cleveland’s Mamie Sue Johnson. Died April 19, aged 70.

Fay McKenzie:

American actress known for starring alongside Gene Autry in the movie Down Mexico Way. Died April 19, aged 101.

Ken Kercheval:

American actor who played Cliff Barnes on Dallas from 1978 to 1991, and reprised the role in the series’ 2012 revival. Died April 21, aged 83.

Edward Kelsey:

English actor who voiced Joe Grundy on the long-running radio drama The Archers. He also appeared in EastEnders and The Vicar Of Dibley. Died April 23, aged 88.

Peter Mayhew:

English-born actor who portrayed wookie Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies. Died April 30, aged 74.

Peggy Lipton:

American actress who won a Golden Globe for her role as flower child Julie Barnes in hit drama The Mod Squad (1968-1973). She also played Norma Jennings in Twin Peaks. Died May 11, aged 72.

Freddie Starr:

English comedian who became famous around the world after a British tabloid headline claimed ‘Freddie Starr Ate My Hamster’. Died May 9, aged 76.

Tim Conway:

American comic actor notable for the 60s comedy McHale’s Navy and The Carol Burnett Show. More recently, he provided the voice of Barnacle Boy in the animated series SpongeBob SquarePant­s. Died May 14, aged 85.

John Ronane:

British actor who appeared in many movies and TV series, including Dixon Of Dock Green, The Avengers and Howard’s Way. Died May 15, aged 85.

Andrew Hall:

English actor who made his TV debut as Russell Parkinson in the 70s comedy series Butterflie­s. He later played Marc Selby, Audrey’s cross-dressing boyfriend, in Coronation Street. Died May 20, aged 65.

Royce Mills:

English actor who made numerous television and film appearance­s, including Minder and History Of The World, Part I (1981). Died May 21, aged 75.

Stephen Thorne:

British actor whose television credits included Z-Cars, Crossroads, and Doctor Who. He also voiced Aslan in the animated version of The Lion, The

Witch And The Wardrobe. Died May 26, aged 84.

Carmine Caridi: American actor who played Carmine Rosato in The Godfather Part II. His television work included Fame and NYPD Blue. Died May 28, aged 85.

Alistair Browning:

Award-winning New Zealand actor known for his roles in Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence, Lord Of The Rings, Rain and the Power Rangers franchise. He began his career on stage but, in 1981, joined the core cast of the Australian drama The Sullivans and went on to many other roles, including Shortland Street, Marlin Bay and Duggan. Died June 2, aged 65.

Paul Darrow:

English actor who played Kerr Avon in Blake’s 7 and went on to play Emmerdale’s Eddy Fox. Died June 3, aged 78.

Bryan Marshall:

British actor who also worked extensivel­y on Australian shows including Home And Away, Neighbours and Water Rats. He appeared in the movies The Spy Who Loved Me, Alfie and The Long Good Friday. Died June 25, aged 81.

Max Wright:

American actor who played Willie Tanner on the sitcom Alf for four years from 1986. He also appeared in the first two seasons of Friends as Central Perk manager Terry. Died June 26, aged 75.

Stephan Chase:

British film and stage actor best known for the movie Maleficent and the 70s TV series Wives

And Daughters and Secret Army. Died June 27, aged 74.

Paul Benjamin:

American actor who made his film debut as a bartender in 1969 in Midnight Cowboy before going on to an extensive television career, including as homeless man El Ervin in ER. Died June 28, aged 81.

Charles Levin:

American actor who was found dead in the Oregon wilderness after he went missing while moving house. Levin is best known for his recurring role as Eddie Gregg on Hill Street Blues. Died June 29, aged 70.

Glyn Houston:

Welsh actor best known for Doctor Who, Keep It In The Family, Crown Court and Dixon Of Dock Green. Died June 30, aged 93.

Arte Johnson:

American comic actor who won an Emmy for his work on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In before going on to roles ranging from Samantha’s cousin Edgar in Bewitched to Dracula’s sidekick in Love At First Bite. Died July 3, aged 90.

Eddie Jones:

American actor who played Clark Kent’s father Jonathan in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman. Died July 6, aged 84.

Rip Torn:

Emmy Award-winning US actor best known for playing Artie, the foul-mouthed producer in The Larry Sanders Show and Zed in the Men In Black films. His career spanned six decades, and roles included starring with David Bowie in 1976’s The Man Who Fell To Earth and Cross Creek (1983). His personal life was equally colourful and his long battle with alcohol led to several arrests for offences ranging from drink driving to burglary. Died July 9, aged 88.

Freddie Jones:

English stage and screen actor whose career spanned more than 60 years and included roles as circus ringmaster Bytes in the 1980 film The Elephant Man and Emmerdale’s Sandy Thomas from 2005 to 2018. Died July 9, aged 91.

Denise Nickerson:

American child actor who played gum-chewing Violet Beauregard in the 1971 film Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Died July 10, aged 62.

Richard Carter:

Australian actor who played Detective Sergeant Brown on the 80s drama Rafferty’s Rules. Died July 13, aged 65.

David Hedison:

American actor best known for his role as Captain Lee Crane in the 60s television series Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea and as CIA agent Felix Leiter in the James Bond films Live And Let Die and Licence To Kill. Died July 18, aged 92.

Rutger Hauer:

A Golden Globe-winning Dutch actor who won acclaim for his role as eccentric anti-hero Roy Batty in the 1982 sci-fi thriller Blade Runner. His television work included True Blood, Alias and Buffy, The Vampire Slayer. Died July 19, aged 75.

Russi Taylor:

American actress who voiced Minnie Mouse from 1986 until her death. Died July 26, aged 75.

Ningali Lawford:

Australian actress who found success in the movies Rabbit Proof Fence, Bran Nue Day and Last Cab To Darwin. Died August 11, aged 52.

Barbara March:

Canadian actress best known for playing Lursa, one of the Duras sisters in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Died August 11, aged 65.

Ben Unwin:

Australian actor who played Jesse MacGregor in Home And Away from 1996 to 2000. Died August 14, aged 41.

Peter Fonda:

A member of one of Hollywood’s best-known acting dynasties, this actor, director and screenwrit­er found fame playing biker Captain America in the 1969 movie Easy Rider. He went on to star in Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, Race The Devil, Ulee’s Gold and The Cannonball Run. Died August 16, aged 79.

Ray Henwood:

Playing Hugh in the 1984 TV comedy Gliding On made this Welsh-born New Zealand actor a household name. Known as ‘The Moro Man’, he appeared in local dramas including Shark In The Park, Moynihan and played Dr Laurence Godfrey in Shortland Street. His services to film and theatre were recognised with a New Zealand Order Of Merit in 2006. Died August 26,

aged 82.

Jessi Combs:

Daredevil Mythbuster­s star who died trying to break the land-speed record in Oregon. Died August 27, aged 39.

Carol Lynley:

American actress who was best known for the 1972 movie The Poseidon Adventure in which she lip-synched the Oscar-winning song The Morning After. Died September 3, aged 77.

Paul Cronin:

Australian actor best known for playing Dave Sullivan in the 70s drama The Sullivans. Died September 13, aged 81.

Brian Turk:

American actor who played Gabriel in Carnivale. Died September 13, aged 49.

Suzanne Whang:

American actress and presenter who hosted the property show House Hunters for nine years. Died September 17, aged 56.

Aron Eisenberg:

American actor who played Nog in seven series of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Died September 21, aged 50.

Robert Garrison:

American actor best known for his role as Tommy in the early instalment­s of The Karate Kid. Died September 27, aged 59.

Leah Bracknell:

English actress who played Emmerdale vet Zoe Tate from 1989 to 2005. The character was the first lesbian on a British soap. Died in September, aged 55.

Stephen Moore:

English actor best known for playing Marvin the Paranoid Android in radio and television production­s of The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy and Adrian Mole’s dad in two TV series. Died October 4, aged 81.

Juliette Kaplan:

British actress who played battle-axe Pearl Sibshaw in Last Of The Summer Wine for 15 years. Died October 10, aged 80.

Robert Forster:

American actor whose last work, El Camino: Breaking Bad Movie, was released the day he died. He was Oscar nominated for his role as Max Cherry in the 1997 movie Jackie Brown. Died October 11, aged 78.

Australian actor who appeared in TV series ranging from Cop Shop and Farscape to Home And Away and The Love Boat. Died October 14, aged 69.

Bill Macy:

American actor famous for playing Walter, the long-suffering

husband of the title character on the 70s sitcom Maude. Died October 17, aged 97.

Anne Phelan:

Australian actress who played Myra Desmond in Prisoner and, more recently, Dot Gross in Winners And Losers. Died October 27, aged 71.

Ian Cross:

New Zealand author (he wrote The God Boy which was later turned into a TV drama) and journalist who was a regular on the long-running 1960s media show Column Comment and also hosted Fourth Estate in the 1980s. Died November 2, aged 93.

Brian Tarantina:

American actor whose most recent role was as Jackie in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Died November 2, aged 60.

Jane Galloway Heitz:

American actress who played choir head Lillian Adler in the high school musical series Glee and Mildred in The Big Bang Theory. Died November 13, aged 78.

Jean Fergusson:

British actress who played the ferocious Marina in 216 episodes of Last Of The Summer Wine from 1985 until it was axed in 2010. She also starred in Coronation Street as Dorothy Hoyle. Died November 14, aged 74.

Michael J Pollard:

American character actor best known for his role as CW Moss in the 1967 film Bonnie And Clyde. Died November 20, aged, 80.

Niall Toibin:

Irish actor who played Father Frank MacAnally in six seasons of the comedy series Ballykissa­ngel. Died November 21, aged 89.

Clive James:

This Australian writer and broadcaste­r became a household name in Britain and many other countries as the host of Clive James On Television in which he showcased unusual or often unintentio­nally amusing television programmes from around the world. His sharp wit was also put to good use on the BBC series Saturday Night Clive and in several travel shows, including his Clive James Postcard From series. Died November 24, aged 80.

Gary Rhodes:

British television chef who fronted such shows as MasterChef, MasterChef USA and Hell’s Kitchen as well as his own series Rhodes Around Britain. Died November 27, aged 59.

Shelley Morrison:

American actress who played maid Rosario Salazar in the comedy series Will & Grace. Died December 1, aged 83.

Jack Burns:

Scottish actor and ballet dancer who appeared in the dramas One Of Us and In Plain Sight. Died December 1, aged 14.

Ronald Leibman:

American actor who won an Emmy for his role in the short-lived crime drama series Kaz and then went on to play Dr Leonard Green, Rachel’s overbearin­g father in Friends and Dr Plepler in The Sopranos. Died December 6, aged 82.

Caroll Edwin Spinney:

American puppeteer most famous for playing Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street from its inception in 1969 until 2018. Died December 8, aged 85.

Rene Auberjonoi­s:

American actor and singer best known for playing Odo on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Clayton Endicott III on Benson, and Boston Legal’s Paul Lewiston. Died December 8, aged 79.

David Bellamy:

English author, broadcaste­r, environmen­tal campaigner and botanist who was awarded the New Zealand 1990 Commemorat­ion Medal for his environmen­tal work in this country, which included the documentar­y series Moa’s Ark. His other series included Bellamy’s Britain, Bellamy’s Europe and Bellamy’s Backyard Safari. Died December 11, aged 86.

Daniel Aiello:

American actor best known for his Oscar-nominated role as Sal, a pizza shop owner caught up in a riot in the 1989 movie Do The Right Thing. Died December 12, aged 86.

Sheila Mercier:

English actress who played Emmerdale’s tough matriarch Annie Sugden from the drama’s first episode in 1972 until 1994. Died December 13, aged 100.
