Aeon Flux

TVNZ Duke, 8.30pm

Starring Charlize Theron, Marton Csokas. Set 400 years in the future after a plague has devastated the world, this visually arresting sci-fi actionfest is undoubtedly entertaining, but never really approaches the intellectual depth of the MTV cult show on which it is based. ★★★ his nerdy character brilliantly, while Sophie Turner plays his high-maintenance girlfriend. ★★★ ends up going horribly wrong. ★★

American Dreamz Bravo, 8.30pm Starring Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid. This faintly ridiculous political satire on the US way of life has its funny moments, but possibly tries too hard at times. The lack of any truly likable characters for the audience to attach themselves to also hampers proceedings. The environmental message quickly becomes a bore. ★★

Three Wise Cousins M ori TV, 8.30pm Starring Vito Vito, Neil Amituanai, Vesui Villiamu. A good-for-nothing Samoan living in Auckland heads back to the Islands in a bid to win the heart of a woman who wants someone versed in Polynesian culture. It will be an eye opener for many Kiwis in the way it lovingly portrays a Samoa off the beaten track of tourism. ★★

True Lies

TVNZ Duke, 8.30pm
