News events never take a holiday

-

Am I the only person in New Zealand who thinks that the total lack of morning and midday TV news presentations during the so-called ‘holiday’ season is a very poor state of affairs? Not everybody gets holidays at this time of the year and not everybody has access to Sky or alternative TV sources. And surprise, surprise, newsworthy happenings continue to occur in New Zealand during this period, while our news presenters are apparently on holiday. It seems like some kind of arrogance. Do the programme planners consider stay-at-home Kiwis as somehow unworthy of receiving daytime broadcasts?

P. Wallace (Christchurch) rural residents with little or no radio signal, who rely on TV to keep them informed of news. Maybe networks could make use of up-and-coming reporters, newsreaders and camera operators to give us morning and midday news bulletins. It would be great experience for them.
