Investigating crime
Sky Television launches Investigation Discovery, a new channel featuring true crime programmes, on Monday, March 1 on channel 18. That channel is currently home to the Food Network which will go off air on that date, although some content will move to the Living channel. We take a look at some of the Investigation Discovery highlights.
O.J. & Nicole: An American Tragedy Screens Tuesday, March 2, 9.25pm This one-off show tells the story of Nicole Brown Simpson (right), the late wife of O.J. Simpson. He was tried and acquitted of her murder and that of her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. The programme includes footage from home videos plus comments from those who were close to Brown Simpson.
Doomsday: The Missing Children Screens Thursday, March 4, 9.25pm When a seven-year-old boy and his teenage stepsister disappear, their mother and legal guardian is vague on their whereabouts and takes off with her new husband. However, the boy’s grandparents, Larry and Kay Woodcock, are concerned for the children’s safety and travel the United States, hoping to find them. This documentary follows their investigation.
Joe Exotic: Before He Was King Screens Saturday, March 13, 8.30pm Joe Exotic, the controversial star of the Netflix hit series Tiger King, is currently behind bars for wildlife violations and his role in a failed plot to kill animal activist Carol Baskin. This documentary “uncovers dark secrets about Joe’s past”. Tiger King fans may also enjoy Joe Exotic: Tigers, Lies And Cover-up, a three-part series which looks at what happened after the Netflix series was made. It starts Saturdays from March 20 at 9.25pm.
JonBenet Ramsey: What Really Happened? Screens Saturday, March 6, 8.30pm In 1994, six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, a child beauty queen, was found killed in her family’s Colorado home. A ransom note was also discovered on the premises but, to date, no one has been convicted of the crime. This programme features audio diaries from a detective (who has since died) who worked on the case. Look out for interviews with some of the Ramsey family members.
