Spring into Daffodil Day pop-up shop

- ABBY BROWN

This year Daffodil Day is on Friday August 26 and the unique pop-up shop will be popping up again in Upper Hutt.

The shop, which has been an unique feature of the area since 1996, will be selling teddy bears, fresh cut daffodils, pens, windmills, serviettes, a raffle and homemade goods and goodies on Main Street where Dick Smith’s used to be. The organisers of the local event invited the public to visit the shop and join in the day; as they said it is a chance to feel part of the fight against cancer and part of the city of Upper Hutt.

The volunteers will also be selling the usual daffodils, balloons, stickers and button holes on the streets of Upper Hutt on the last Friday of August like they have for over 25 years.

Upper Hutt can boast that it is always one of the top fundraisers for the Cancer Society in the Wellington region – and it is good to know that the money raised in Upper Hutt is used locally to support Cancer Society work.

There are very few people in our city who have not been touched by cancer, either personally or through family and friends, and Daffodil Day is their day to share their story.
