Get your car checked for free this winter

Queen Street Auto Centre are expert auto mechanics and tyre specialists. With 22 years in business and a focus on staying up to date with all latest vehicles and diagnostic tools, there is not much that owner Willie Keiller and the team don’t know.

The team strives for an excellent customer experience for all, no matter how large or small the job and no matter the make or model.

To help keep their valued loyal customers, and any new customers, safe on the road this winter , they are offering free check ups including battery, oil, coolant levels, tyre pressure and wiper blades.

‘‘With longer periods of time between WOF’s now, it is really important to have regular check ups both to keep your car on the road, to keep you safe and to stop small things becoming big expensive problems,’’ Willie says.

Willie was a young a mechanic who had been in the trade 15 years in New Zealand, when he started his own business, known then as Tyreworld, on the corner of Fergusson Drive and Exchange Street in 1994.

It was not long before Tyreworld gained a reputation as tyre specialists who could be trusted to fit the best tyre or mag wheel for any vehicle – and at a good price.

As time has gone on, this reputation has continued to grow and the team still prides themselves on being able to advise on the best tyre for a particular vehicle and being able to supply and fit it at competitive rates.

The business moved to its current location on the corner of Queen and King Streets in 1996.

While Willie and the team supply hundreds of tyres a week, their work is not just about tyres, so in 2007 Willie changed the name to Queen Street Auto Centre, to better reflect the full range of workshop services they offer.

Today Queen Street Auto Centre is a one stop shop offering everything from warrant of fitness checks, oil changes, brake adjustments, wheel alignments, tyres, mags and Marshall Batteries to full workshop repairs and servicing.

They recommend between WOF checks for peace of mind and offer a reasonably priced quick check which will reassure vehicle owners, or alert them to any potential problems, saving them money in the long run.

Willie has assembled a team of qualified people who also understand the meaning of service – qualified mechanics and office manager Sandra.

Queen Street Autos has always been progressive, keeping up with the latest motoring trends, understanding each new vehicle released (and how to fix it when necessary), and the latest machinery and diagnostic equipment. Each mechanic has a computer, meaning they can access information from the vehicle’s computer chip, allowing them to tune the vehicle for optimum performance.

There is one area Willie is old fashioned in though – service – all Queen Street Auto Centre’s staff focus on providing ‘‘good old fashioned service’’.

‘‘We aim for every customer to leave having received the best advice, products and services at the best price,’’ Willie says.
