Quilters are dreaming up their perfect cushion cover for The 2017 Stonestead Quilt Festival Challenge.

At the annual quilt festival, where the public can view quilts hung up around the grounds of Stonestead Cottage for a gold coin donation for Te Omanga Hospice, this year they have to make a cushion cover measuring 40.50cms x 40.50cms, with the theme of Summer Dreams. The cushions and quilts are viewed by the general public from 10am - 4.30pm, with prizegiving at 4pm, on February 12, if the weather is unsuitable the event will be held on the following Sunday. There is also a prize for people’s choice of quilt and a display of textile artworks from the Cre8 Group. When making the cushion cover the creator must use all fabrics included in the challenge pack but can also use additional fabrics, with applique, embellishment and quilting also added.

The challenge packets will be available on a first come, first serve basis from Sawmillers Quiltery on 04 526 2517 or email enquiries@sawmillersquiltery.co.nz.
