WE SAY
After spending more than a few years in the journalism trade there’s one thing I know for sure about people – everybody has an interesting story to tell.
The weekly column we have been running on the secret lives of our councillors has confirmed the truth of this. Now we would like to extend this further and find the interesting people in our community and the extraordinary things they do around, in, and through, their everyday lives.
Today we meet avid Upper Hutt knitter Audrey Harper, page 5, who in the 1940s was a Wren in Britain before moving to New Zealand.
Yes, hard news is an important and valuable part of a community paper like ours. But sometimes there’s nothing better than reading about the lives of those around us, and the interesting things that we all do.
If you know of someone with an interesting story to tell we’d love to hear from you. Just email editor@uhleader.co.nz - Sharron Pardoe, News Editor Communities
