Cruise cuisine is top class
Having previously sailed on ocean cruises, I’m sure I’m not the only passenger who, nearing the end of the voyage, has developed a quiet loathing for the overfamiliarity of ‘ship food’.
However, this is another essential aspect of cruise life where Uniworld excels.
Sure, river cruises are not catering for the ravenous hordes on those floating cities of the high seas. But the food ticked all my terra firma dining boxes.
Restaurant-standard cuisine? Check. Flavourful? Check. Diverse and exciting culinary options? Check. Local and fresh ingredients? Check.
In every country and region we visited, menus reflected and celebrated traditional dishes and local cuisine.
The Sachertorte and strudels in Vienna were sensational, as was the halusky in Bratislava and the goulash in Budapest.
The lavish buffet breakfasts were an ode to exquisite indulgence, along with a la carte options, including the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever tasted.
Uniworld’s health-conscious Travelling Lite menu was a winner, as were the vegetarian options and their personalised commitment to tailor dining preferences to all food allergies.
Another winning touch is Uniworld’s All-Inclusive credentials, which recently transformed their offering.
Many river cruise lines offer free beer and wine with meals but Uniworld takes it a whole lot further, with unlimited drinks on board, including award-winning wines, craft beers, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, specialty teas and coffees 24/7.
Free WiFi throughout the vessel, is most welcome to digital addicts like me.
True to the all-inclusive spirit, there’s no pesky tipping to be attended to, on board or to the tour guides, as that’s all part of the cruise price.
All-inclusive excellence.
