Cambridge pool

-

I wish to refer to the letter written by Florence Stevenson under the heading Cambridge pool in the Waikato Times on June 22 in reference to my letter on the subject.

My letter is not disturbing. It was written for the benefit of Cambridge residents and that Waipa Council had decided to start the construction of the pool for Cambridge. When Cambridge was amalgamated with Te Awamutu, Cambridge had a population of 9000, but now it is more than 20,000. Cambridge can break away from Waipa and have its own council.

I like to say to the writer that Cambridge’s town center had no upgrade compared to Te Awamutu town center. Waipa District Council did not build an aerodrome in Cambridge; if it had done, Kiwi Air would have started cheap direct flights to Australia from Cambridge with peanuts and fresh farm milk. St Peter’s swimming pool is for the school and it is not for you and me. During the daytime, even St John Ambulance will take more than 15 minutes to reach Te Awamutu swimming pool from Cambridge.

The last few weekends I have been in Te Awamutu and I found that all the new facilities are built within the CBD walking distance. Even the rose garden is close to these facilities. But because of winter, there were no roses in the garden.

We must keep in mind that Cambridge residents also pay rates to Waipa Council and they also must have these facilities within town. I would like to say a big thank you to Waipa District Council for the good decision it made to start the pool construction in January 2018.

elsewhere from your newspaper - that the McClaren team have dumped Honda for the 2018 season and contracted for Mercedes power. Who could argue with that? But then, if one cannot access Google and rely on the Waikato Times, how would one know?
