Waikato solution to Auckland problem

-

Isn’t it about time that Air New Zealand and the Auckland City hierarchy realise that there is another airport just 120 kilometres away. It’s Hamilton Airport and quite capable of handling overseas air traffic. This would be the ideal solution to ease up the traffic in and out of Auckland Central.

We, in this great Waikato expanse, have more people than Auckland, all the cities from Te Aroha, Morrinsville, Matamata, Cambridge, right down to Rotorua. We all have to go to Auckland to fly out to some overseas destination and return, literally thousands of people and, of course, motor vehicles, buses, trucks, you name it. If it’s got wheels, it’s got people, not only would it save time, it would save a big fuel bill. Everybody gets uptight when there is a crash or two, then the trouble starts.

People get there late, get angry, start speeding to catch the flight, get there only to find the plane has gone, come back tomorrow.

What’s the old saying, don’t put all your eggs in one basket? Looks like nobody saw this mess coming, get Hamilton Airport to take some of the workload off Auckland, and for sure, half the problem will be solved. This will help relieve the total mess that’s happening up there, otherwise it will only get worse.

Not only that, people in the great Waikato will find it easy to fly overseas and back again without any hold up, and it will create a lot of work for people in this area.
