Rabbit virus

Release of ridiculous rabbit virus: I’ve seen and shot many rabbits around Central Otago where there were millions of rabbits. The release of the virus there killed millions of rabbits and saved farmers walking off their land because there was no grass for their cattle and sheep, the rabbits ate everything.

This release of a killing virus which is close to the deadly Ebola virus is a brainless idea by the Waikato Council, the release is over a lot of the little towns on the Coromandel Peninsula.

There are a few pockets of rabbits here and there are certainly not plagues of hundreds of thousands.

I was a pest destruction officer in the late 1960s and for years we poisoned all the burrows and shot the rest, it worked perfectly.

Everyone over here doesn’t want this virus released at all. Do our governments and councils listen and have respect for our local people.
