BB COLOUR GLOSS

- Harriet Pudney

I always pay attention when cult hair maestros Bumble & Bumble drop a new product, and the brand’s latest offering – Bb Color Gloss tubes ($54 at Mecca) – promises to be as innovative, effective and covetable as expected. In shades for all hues, apply to dry hair, leave for 20 minutes, shampoo and condition as usual, and anticipate dramatically revived, ultra shiny hair for up to three washes.

LIP LINER

This is another your-mileage-may-vary one. I find lip liners drying, imprecise and pointless, but for many, they’re a must.

Shouldn’t your lipstick stand on its own, though? I’ve never finished a lip liner.

PRESTIGE MOISTURISERS

Do you know how much a 100ml jar of

La Mer Creme de la Mer costs? $735. If you’re in a position to pay that and feel good about it, go for it, but I hope you give significantly to charity too.

To my mind, there’s no face cream that could possibly be that good. If I did end up with some, I’d be so scared to waste it that it’d probably go off before I finished it.

CONTOUR KITS

Here’s the transformation temptation. Obviously we’d all love cheekbones that can be seen from space, but in my experience, those can only come with the help of a professional.

The four different unused contour kits in my second drawer tell me it’s not a happening thing.
