Harry and Meghan could be NZ-bound

- STACEY KIRK IN LONDON

Prince Harry and his new bride Meghan Markle could be headed to New Zealand when the pair come down under for this year’s Invictus Games, Stuff understands.

The games, for which the prince is a patron, are set to be held in Australia from October 20-27 and a source has informed Stuff that the newly-wedding pair are set to break off for a royal tour of New Zealand from about October 28.

They could tour the country for up to seven days, and are believed to also have plans to visit other nearby Pacific Islands too. While in New Zealand, there may be a chance the royal couple could head to Waitangi.

It’s understood the estimated cost of the tour would be about $1 million, which would be in line with previous royal tours, and that a royal planning office has been set up.

Kensington Palace declined to comment on the matter because they said they did not reveal official royal visits until closer to the planned date.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was scheduled to have her first meeting with Charles and Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, overnight. It’s not known if the tour would be discussed.

Prince Harry and Markle are set to marry on May 19 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

A Kiwi is set to be one of the chefs to make the royal wedding cake, and the couple have invited more than 2500 members of the public to share in their special day.

However, the formal guest list of about 600 will be kept to friends and family of the royal family, and no heads of government have been invited.
