Wild weather causes chaos

Wild weather lashing the Waikato cut power to hundreds of homes and made driving conditions treacherous. Most of the country had a showery and windy Monday, with a colder spell on the way that may bring snow to the Desert Rd today. Rain was expected to continue in Hamilton through until tomorrow. An Ohaupo family were cleaning up the mess after what they believe was a tornado caused a large amount of damage to their house and property on yesterday morning. Casey Fisher got out of bed to find that the roof of their conservatory had lifted off and the facade boards of their house had been ripped off.
